Organisational Behaviour

Organisational Behavior focuses on examining the impact that individuals, groups, structures and technology have on behaviour within an organisation and finding ways to maximise and improve that impact for the good of the organisation.

Behavioural Based Safety

Behavioural based safety systems and tools are designed to target safe working behaviours through observation and immediate feedback. Many companies employ behavioural based safety methods because they have been shown to produce tangible and lasting improved safety results.

ASTRA Group Services has a team of behavioural science practitioners who assist clients to effectively implement behavioural based safety systems and tools by:

    • Tailor designing new behavioural based safety system & tools;
    • Advising on or project managing the introduction of new behavioural based safety system & tool; and
    • Establishing relevant measures for behavioural based safety systems and tools to determine their effectiveness.

Cognitive Based Safety

Our Cognitive Based Safety program, Beyond Compliance, addresses the internal drivers of both safe and unsafe actions by stimulating workers to develop their existing safety beliefs and empowering them to challenge their “unsafe” beliefs. Cognitive Based Safety is a perfect adjunct to any existing Behavioural Based Safety system or tool as it emphasises and targets the workers’ significant thoughts and other internal reactions that influence their actions, including those that often precede an accident or incident. As a result, participants are more likely to recognise the benefit of behaving safely without the usual need for direct supervision because they begin to appreciate a change in their own personal values.

Incident Investigation

ASTRA has a team of professionals who are not only trained in leading workplace investigations, but are experienced in conducting investigations across a range of areas that include:

    • Accidents and incidents;
    • Industrial matters (such as bullying and other Fair Treatment in the Workplace issues:)
    • Damage, and
    • Theft.

In addition, we provide training in conducting workplace investigations up to Diploma unit level (For more information, contact our office)

Management and Leadership Development and Coaching

ASTRA’s Management and Leadership Training programs provide participants with the insight, knowledge and skills to lead more effectively through influencing others to work more effectively toward business objectives. ASTRA has a number of existing and proven management and leadership training programs which are a mix of both accredited and non-accredited. Our management and leadership training programs are divided into what we regard as the four fundamental skills of management: Planning, Organising, Controlling and Leading.

Alternatively, and for a more comprehensive approach to leadership development, ASTRA can provide an organisation with leadership coaches and mentors. Our approach emphasises skill development which is achieved through a combination of peers sharing relevant case studies and then engaging in one-on-one coaching in the workplace. At all times, participants are engaged in problem-solving discussions with their coach and receive constructive feedback regarding targeted behaviour that is aligned with business objectives.

Aligning teams to organisational objectives

Similarly, ASTRA’s approach to team building draws on targeted behaviours and encourages an alignment to the greater business objectives. We use a variety of methods that include problem solving, physical activities and psychological profiling, but all are directed towards an objective of working more productively as a team.
