FUNDING AVAILABLE TO SUPPORT THE BUILDING AND CIVIL CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY


Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) is an independent industry-funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices and career seekers in the building and construction industry. Learn more about CSQ here.

As part of the Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) Initiative, ASTRA Group Services are able to provide cost effective upskilling and nationally recognised training to the Building and Civil Construction Industry for the 2017-2018 funding period. 

Eligible participants receive a contribution towards their training fee, provided to ASTRA on their behalf, which is then applied to their elected course. 



Short course - General Construction
Eligible personnel receive a contribution towards their training fee, provided to ASTRA on their behalf, which can be applied to up to a maximum of eight (8) short courses in the current funding initiative period 2017-2018.

Am I eligible?

To meet eligibility requirements, you must:
  • Be an existing / eligible worker in the building and construction industry and have been employed longer than one (1) month through full-time part-time or casual employment or engagement as a contract worker; OR
  • Be an unemployed worker who has been unemployed for a period of not greater than six (6) months in the building and construction industry who would otherwise meet the requirements of an eligible worker
  • Be an Australian / New Zealand citizen, permanent resident of Australia or a refugee and humanitarian visa holder
  • Permanently reside, or are permanently employed in Queensland
You will not be eligible if you are:
  • Employed by a local, state or commonwealth Government authority or statutory body (excluding an Indigenous Council that is a Principal Contractor)
  • Currently enrolled and participating in a Queensland secondary school program (excluding school based Apprentice or Trainee)
  • Previously funded under this program for eight (8) short courses - General construction in the same contract term
  • Receiving funding by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same Training being undertaken
  • A contracted trainer or assessor or existing worker of a Recognised Training Organisation (RTO)

Short course - Civil Construction
Eligible personnel receive a contribution towards their training fee, provided to ASTRA on their behalf, which can be applied to up to a maximum of three (3) short courses in the current funding initiative period 2017-2018.

  • Receiving funding by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same Training being undertaken
  • A contracted trainer or assessor or existing worker of a Recognised Training Organisation (RTO)

Skills and Gap Training (SAGT) provides a pathway for workers with Building and Construction Industry experience that have many of the necessary skills to perform on the job but do not hold a formal Qualification to recognise these skills.

The first stage of SAGT will see your skills and abilities ‘mapped’ against a Qualification. You will then go on to undertake the targeted gap training, but the Qualification cannot have an outcome based entirely on RPL (Recognised Prior Learning).

Am I eligible?

To meet eligibility requirements, you must:
  • Be an existing / eligible worker in the building and construction industry and have been employed longer than one (1) month through full-time part-time or casual employment or engagement as a contract worker; OR
  • Be a career seeker who can demonstrate significant previous experience, skills and knowledge within the Building and Construction Industry, but are not an existing worker
  • Be an Australian / New Zealand citizen, permanent resident of Australia or a refugee and humanitarian visa holder
  • Permanently reside, or are permanently employed in Queensland
You will not be eligible if you are:
  • Employed by a local, state or commonwealth Government authority or statutory body (excluding an Indigenous Council that is a Principal Contractor)
  • Currently enrolled and participating in a Queensland secondary school program
  • An Apprentice or Trainee
  • Previously funded under this program in the same contract term
  • Receiving funding by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same Training being undertaken
